Girard Perregaux 1966 Perpertual Calendar Watch

Posted by writer in brand watches on 09 17th, 2010

The 1966, is a classic watch collection of Girard Perregaux. The collection name “1966” is meant to memorize the exact year when the brand received the Neuchâtel Observatory’s Centenary Prize for its great contribution to the development of chronometry. And the glorious  watch collection has just been enriched by a Perpertual Calendar watch.

Crafted from 18k pink gold or white gold, the case of the new 1966 contains the Girard-Perregaux GP033Q0 automatice movement which is composed of 288 individual parts and delivers at least 46 hour power reserve. This 26-jewel calibre also sports the brand’s unique Microvar variable inertia balance that can be admired via the display case back fitted with a sapphire crystal.

The round case, equipped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, is 40mm at diameter – a modest size for most normal wrist. And it is water resistant to 30 meters, which means that you’s better not wear it to dive.

The dial, slightly domed, comes with a symmetrical arrangement The graceful leaf-shaped hands are responsible for telling hours and minutes, while the small blued hands displays the day of week, the date and the month respectively. The moonphase indicator, featuring blue sky and gold moon and stars, is located at 6 o’clock position. With three subsidiary dials and one indicator, the central zone of the dial feels a bit busy, though the reading is still not too bad.

Completed the Girard Perregaux 1966 Perpertual Calendar watch is a black alligator strap with an ardillon buckle in matching material with the case.

According to Girard Perregaux, the Perpertual Calendar is limited to 198 pieces worldwide – 99 pieces for each version.
